Rising Star Gaspar RN,CDX aka Troy
Oh my goodness.....what a long weekend it
was! On Friday we would have had good scores except for the NQ for him
not staying on the drop on recall...I walked all the way across the ring
to turn around and there is Troy sitting right in front of me. Day two,
scores would of been wonderful except he followed me on the drop on
recall & he hit the top board and knocked it out on the retrieve
over high jump. Now I'm worried that he won't want to go over the jump.
So I go home and work on the stay and him jumping which he did not even
hesitate to do. Sunday the 15th we qualified with a 182.5. On the drop
on recall after Troy dropped and I called him he jumped up and kissed my
face then sat right in front of me. After all the exercises the judge
said to me... I can tell your dog loves you.
Tomorrow Dana Wray starts us on Utility.
Bless his heart!
Take care and thank you so much for my
wonderful Troy.

Tidmores Rising Star Jordan, aka Koda - letter from his owner.
Hi Cynthia! I found a few minutes to sit down, so I thought I'd send
you a quick note to let you know that Koda is doing great! I don't think
I'll ever get over how smart he is.
What I wanted to tell you about, though, is something funny the
girls have been doing with him. They will hook two leashes to his collar
and take turns running him around the house in a big circle, pretending he
is a reindeer! I keep wondering when he's going to go hide, and refuse to
play with them, but he seems to like it. He sits so still for them when
they put the leashes on.
Anyway, I thought you might get a laugh out of that one. It's even
funnier to watch!
Hope you have a very merry Christmas!

Here is a pic of Jenn with Rowdy. He took fourth
place (99/100) at the German Shepherd Nationals in Topeka, on
September
29th, 2011. He is known as the "over achiever" in his
obedience
classes. He is such a joy to have. I am sure he will have a list of
titles as long as your arm before he retires. More to come! Thank
you!

Cynthia,
I still owe you pictures that I need to pull off my
camera, but I haven't forgotten. It's very tough to take in the
full "Bill" with a picture, because his head is so
small yet he's so big and athletic. He's still very slim in
stature, and despite his 68 lbs., I'd guess him at 40. However,
I've changed our playing because he's already so fast and so athletic.
I might be a lot bigger, but he's way faster and deceptively
strong. I sure wouldn't want to be an intruder!
He's definitely still a puppy, and I'm still treating
him like one. But he's coming along so nicely and learns so
quickly that I have to constantly remind myself not to get too far
ahead. He's calming down ever so slightly after our walks, runs
and exercise, and he's looking more and more like Creed every day.
Pictures are coming your way, but I didn't want to
miss a chance to let you know how much I love this dog!
Thank you so much!
Jake
October 12, 2011
Cynthia,
It's been a while since I gave you an update and
I'll send a much more detailed email soon with pictures.
But I did want to make sure that you know Bill is
exactly as hard-headed as you imagined and exactly as smart as you had
hoped. He's now 63 pounds but still acts and looks like the
puppy he is. I'm not sure how big he's going to be, but he's
very lean, his legs still have knots in them and his head it still
tiny. But his ears, paws and bark are huge!
He's just incredible and I still couldn't be
happier. And if you asked Bill, I'm sure he'd say the 2 hours of
walks/outside play and 3 hours of inside fetch and learning isn't
enough, and also say that he's loving live (especially now that he
figured out belly rubs aren't meant to hold him down).
Thank you so much, again, for all your hard work and
skill in creating such unique and awesome dogs. I'll send along
pictures (he still looks like a small puppy until you put him on
a scale) and a more formal update soon. But I didn't want
to miss a chance to say "thanks"!

Hi Cynthia!
We were wondering whether you knew whether Beauty is pregnant yet,
and thought I would drop you a quick e-mail.
Zephyr and I are going back to Jim Thorpe again today (we go every
Thursday). Last week, Zephyr helped a young woman who had paralysis on
her right side to move her arm for the first time. It was another
amazing moment. We will be working with this girl again today. Zephyr is
such a blessing to so many. Whenever someone asks where I got her, I
give them the long discussion about the challenges of breeding healthy
German Shepherd Dogs of sound temperament. Then I give them your card. I
hope it pays off for you. There are way too many back yard breeders that
are creating serious genetic deficiencies in the breed. I want to get
the word out about this and encourage people interested in bringing a
GSD into their lives to seek you out.
Hope to hear from you soon!

Cynthia:
Just to give you a quick update. Rowdy is now
Tidmores Rising Star Idaho RN,
BN. He received two titles this weekend in our last outing prior to
nationals. He finished his RN with 2 firsts and a third
(my fault) and his BN with 2 firsts and a
second. His last run was 198.5. Hopefully that
is insight to how he will do in the future. We need to work on left
turns and fronts for the next couple of weeks, so
hopefully we can get that polished up for
nationals. Otherwise, his heeling looks great. He
was a hit in Topeka. Everyone was impressed with how cool he was in
the new surroundings. It was all fun and games for him.
They also love his strong color and male
head. A lady, I would guess in her 80s was there,
and she had shown GSD for decades. She was so impressed, she wanted
to know why I didn't have him in the conformation ring. When I explained
that he wasn't severe enough in his rear angulations, she said he
should be in the ring to show the judges what a real
GSD looks like, not the mess the breed
currently looks like. She loves his movement, bone structure
and head. In general, he has made a big
impression everywhere he has gone. He hasn't
met a stranger, even with strange kids running up to him and hugging
and petting on him. And,
I got the OFA prelim back. Good hips and normal elbows.
Next step is Nationals. Wish us luck.

Cynthia,
I hate to bother you even more and rave about Bill, but I can't help
myself.
I still could not be happier with him. He's growing like crazy
(he was 45 pounds 2 weeks ago, and I know he's grown since then) and
while he's still very dark, the tan is slowly spreading over his legs,
on his belly, behind his ears and a little on his face. I get
compliments everywhere I go about how good looking he is and,
occasionally, his temperament.
We've started our formal training and, at this point, it's all stuff
he's learned already. But being there among other dogs, owners and
in a new situation has been invaluable. I do want to stress that
everything we've learned has been at Bill's discretion. He'll run
out to the middle of the lawn and sit and I'll do my best to teach him a
concept. But he's never corrected with more than a "no"
when he breaks "stay" or "heel" and I make sure to
allow him plenty of "puppy time". Well, actually, all of
his time is "puppy time". As we continue to learn, even
the easy things like "sit" are hard when he's excited or
distracted. So I remind myself that he's still a pup and just
exercise him as much as possible.
I want to compliment you again for the fantastic job you did.
Bill is still a pup and just beginning his life, but PLEASE put me at
the top of your list if anyone ever wants any references on your dogs.
Because Bill is better than I could have ever dreamed.
Hope all is well with your family and, again, thank you.

Hi Cynthia!
We took Koda to see Dr. Tyler yesterday, and all is well. We got a
weight of 30 pounds for him, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. He
wasn't interested in sitting still at the time. LOL!
I took this video of him this morning. Every morning, I take Karma
for a long walk with me. When I return, Koda knows it's his turn. He knows
that he has to have his leash on before we go, and that I will not put it
on until he sits down and stays still. As soon as he hears it click,
though, he's off! The sitting still part is so hard right now, since he's
still a puppy, but he knows the routine. When we get back from our walk
(to the stop sign and back), he knows that he gets to pick up the
newspaper, and take it inside. He's always so proud of himself!
He continues to amaze us daily! Enjoy!

Hi Cynthia,
Nice to hear from
you! Yes, we are doing well now. Beginning of this year, I took Sieben to
Austin Canine Central for 2 month training. He was welcome in the class
and got his Good Canine Citizen certificate. Sieben is really a sweet dog
yet very protective. He has all the qualities that I had hoped a GSD would
be. If there is anything that he does not do well, that is my fault of not
training him well. I love him dearly. We took Sieben and Imma together to
visit his family during Christmas break and both of the dogs had a lot of
fun in the snow there. I do not remember whether I sent you some photos of
them playing in snow……. I am attaching some…
Are there any news
of his siblings? I know the red, Hank/Renno is doing great with tracking.
Honey is with you. What about other siblings? Are they doing well? I
always remember the blue one – Hugo/ Spike – he was the smallest among
the 5 boys. Has he grow to be a 80lbs boy?

Cynthia,
Just wanted to give you a brief update on Bill.
We're still doing very well. He had his second
round of shots today and, again, was the hit of the vet's office.
He has a great attitude when meeting people; both excited to see someone
new but also ready to do his own thing. Since he hasn't had all of
his shots yet, I'm being very protective of him, but I have introduced
him to two older dogs who are vaccinated in a controlled environment and
he, again, had a fantastic attitude. He was a little curious, but
also didn't want to get too close at first. He went up and smelled
one of the other dogs who was told to "sit" and let the bigger
dog do the same to him for a few seconds before letting out a whimper.
We obviously haven't started any formal training and I
haven't been teaching him any real lessons, but he already sits on
command 9 times out of 10 (he gets a little distracted occasionally, and
I don't blame him). He also has "come" down very well
and we've just begun to learn "stay" and "heel".
It takes a little while for him to catch on since I'm only playing games
with him to teach him, but there will be plenty of time for more
disciplined learning later.
He's such a great little pup and he gives me way more
love than I deserve.
I hope all of his litter mates are doing well.
I've attached a picture from today so you can see how much he's grown
already.
Thanks so much,
Jake

Hi Cynthia,
So glad to hear from you the other
day and sorry it has taken me so long to get back. We are doing
great and hope you are also. Samantha has not become a star
like I see her brother on the commercial has, but she is still our
wonderful companion. She loves to run with me and play soccer with
Austin as I think I might have mentioned before. We haven't taken
her back to agility classes, but it is only because it is SO far away that
I just have not done it. We love her to death though and as always,
her intelligence is amazing. When we go outside, she still runs the
entire perimeter of the yard (sometimes twice) before she greets us.
It never gets tiring to watch!!! My camera is taking blurry
pictures, but wanted to send you some to get an idea of her looks at 3 yrs
old. I think she probably looks much like Cinder. She does
have a near obsession with the water hose. When we use it at all,
she wants to chase and bite the water!! It is her all time favorite
game. Sometimes she will pull the hose out to the front door and
then bark for us to come out and squirt her with it. I fill her pool
up and have to pen her up or she will drag the water hose out and bring it
to me. One time she wanted her water changed from her little baby
pool and she pulled the hose over to the pool and just sat there waiting
on me to refill it. I am thinking she is going to start speaking any
day now.

TIDMORES RISING STAR ZEPHYR COSMIC
Hi Cynthia,
Zephyr continues her work at Jim
Thorpe Rehabilitation Hospital where she has become loved and respected
for her ability to provide rehabilitation therapy for victims of traumatic
brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, amputations, and more.
Zephyr's repertoire of activities continues to grow as we tailor therapies
for specific patients. She is able to learn new activities so quickly,
often after being shown what we want only two or three times. Her
intelligence is astounding. Her latest activity is speech therapy. Yes,
speech therapy! I hold up a "flash card" with one of Zephyr's
many commands printed on it. The patient must then say the command loudly
and clearly enough for Zephyr to understand and perform the command.
Zephyr will stare intently at the patient's face, cocking her head in an
endearing manner in her attempt to hear and understand the command. Then,
when she understands, Zephyr performs the action for the patient. We often
work in conjunction with the staff speech therapists and we have
breakthrough moments almost every week! Who can resist trying harder
when that furry face and bright eyes are in front of you!?! I
have kept a journal of all her visits since day one. I don't ever want to
forget the miracles we have seen. Zephyr can be quiet and subdued (during
speech therapy) or boisterous & cheerful when chasing or bouncing
balls. She can turn it on or off in an instant with nothing more than a
hand signal. The only thing she obviously does not enjoy is pure comfort
therapy, where she is expected to just sit still and be patted. She
endures this stoically, but if it goes on too long, she gives me a whine
and a look that says, "Come on Mom, let's do something fun." She
is definitely not a lap dog! Finally, her beauty... We hear it virtually
every time we go out. She is magnificent. And people are amazed at how
soft & shiny her coat is. I have personally never felt a
shepherd with such a soft coat. This really helps when working with
patients with limited ability to feel and touch. I encourage them to
touch and feel her velvet ears. This very action has brought smiles to
stroke patients who had not yet smiled. I could go on and on... I only
hope that others will pursue this endeavor with their Tidmore's GSD. Your
efforts to produce GSD's with outstanding temperament have definitely paid
off! Attached is Zephyr's Christmas photo. Hospital privacy laws
prevent me from sending photos of her at work, but hopefully in the near
future, I can get some patient releases so I can send you a few. Best of
luck with Cinder's April litter! |

Hi Cynthia,
I sent you some new pics!! Zeke has had the time of his life in
the snow today and I wanted to share with you! I begged him to
come back in the house on the first pic, you can probably tell, he is
looking at me like "mom do I have to"! He is so
awesome and just the sweetest boy! We have had so much fun with
him. The family argues over who he loves the most. I say
it's me, but honestly he would do anything for anyone of us!
I wanted to let you know also that we got all of his allergies and
a list of dogfoods he can have in case you run into allergies with his
siblings. Just let me know if you want them, I can send you a copy.
I would not trade him for the world!! Hope you are doing good,

Hi Cynthia -
Just wanted to let you know that Renno got his Rally Novice title
this weekend!
He did really good handling all the noise and commotion of his first
indoor show. Very solid, not bothered by anything. We
received many compliments on how beautiful he is. Several
people, including one of his judges, were commenting on how nice it
was to see a correctly structured Shepherd...all the way from his
ears to his rear angulations. And he never met a stranger!
Everyone was taken by his wonderful temperament and he made many new
friends.
So, once again, you should be proud of the hard work you do to breed
such wonderful companions!
Thank You!

Hi Cynthia-
Zeke is doing better! We just changed his vet this month
because we found out this vet does blood work and has actual allergy
shots to desensitize him to his allergies. He was doing good with
the other vet, but it has been so expensive getting baths and special
dog food and cortisone shots and prednisone pills. Getting the
blood work and allergy serum for him is expensive too, but in the long
road it will save money. We would not trade him for the world, he
is the most WONDERFUL dog! When he met his new vet, Shan was giving the
information and Zeke stood up with his paws up on the counter and Shan
said "and this is Zeke". They were all so impressed with
how great he is. He's never met a stranger and loves kisses.
He has no idea he is a dog or how big he is. We have enjoyed him
so much! Hope you have a wonderful holiday!!
Sincerely,
The Evans Family

Good
morning Cynthia,
I
pray this finds you and your children all well! Today is my
boy’s 6th birthday!! B Zack is a very big boy and is
very healthy! He weighs 93 lbs. He is extremely obedient and
protective of me. He is so happy in his den (our home) and the
best companion anyone could ever dream of.
I
want to thank you again for all your diligent efforts in breeding.
God blessed you and blessed me when I got this four-legged child!
I am so grateful and tell God that often in my prayers. I would be
so lost and lonely without B Zack. He brought me back around after
I passed out from a heat stroke this summer. He did it again in
the back yard when I fainted. He had my shirt up around my neck,
glasses off and was cooling me down. I just cannot say enough
about his temperament and caring/protective nature.
I
hope you have a lovely day. Dennis and I have been getting him
mentally stimulating toys … which he loves … but gets so tired and
takes a nap after figuring them out. He has conquered them all!
Love
you and thank you again for this wonderful companion,

Hello Cynthia,
I haven't written in a while so I thought I'd drop you a note.
Yesterday Jeff and I took Roman with us to an area in Plano, Texas
called The Shops at Legacy. It's a very upscale shopping, bar, and
restaurant district, with some places being pet friendly.
Fortunately for us yesterday was below 90 degrees. That may sound
hot, but we've gone the past 4 months hovering right around 100 or more
so 90 feels amazing! Roman was welcome with us on a patio for
happy hour and he was truly the perfect dog! I could not have been
prouder of him. He sat there quietly and extremely well-behaved
the entire time. Children came up to pet him and he did his usual
thing, which is lowering his head and bending his ears back in
submission. It's SO cute. Then, all of a sudden, two people
walked by that he did not like for some reason and he switched into the
perfect guard dog that he is.
Our waiter asked about him and I of course referred him to you.
When we walked back to our car people stopped us left and right asking
about him or commenting on how gorgeous or well-mannered he was. I
thought you'd like to know. Attached are a couple of pics of
Roman and me.
Take good care!

Hi
Cynthia,
I
saw Beauty’s new puppies and hope she is doing well. I am a little bit
surprised to see only 3 puppies… I thought she would have 8 or more
again.
I
adopted another dog, Imma, from shelter a couple of month ago to be a
friend of Sieben. Imma is about similar age as Sieben and about 45 LBS and
she is a Doberman mix. Sieben is already 75LBS. They play together when we
are present and sleep in separate areas when we are not at home. We took
them to the coast once and they both love the sea.
Recently
I am taking Sieben to a class for some more fun. He is very smart and
handsome. The trainer likes himJ
It
has been very hot in Austin so I take Sieben to swim at least once a week.
He is a great swimmer. I also noticed that he starts paying less attention
to other dogs/people and loves to play with me more and more.
You
can see in the picture that he is not so happy about the kiddy pool I got
for him… too small…
Sieben
will be 1 year old in a couple weeks and I miss that little fur ball. He
is a very good dog. Joseph and I both love him very much and we are glad
that Alice introduced us to you. Thanks again.

Tidmores Rising Star Hank aka Renno

Beauty X Dryker son 2009
I have to brag on Renno. He passed his CGC yesterday with
flying colors! He is such an awesome dog. I get compliments
on him where ever we go....first for his looks (he is gorgeous!) and
then for his personality. He absolutely loves everybody....people
and animals.
He is friends with the miniature horse that lives next to the Rio
Grande club house...he has to go say hi whenever he sees him. With
the little dogs he will generally lay down (on his own) to make friends.
He is a wonderful ambassador for the breed because he is so friendly.
He will be taking the therapy dog test when he is old enough so I can
start doing some therapy work with him.
Love,
Sharon

Hi Cynthia!
It is great to hear from you, sorry its been so long, I have been so
busy lately. Zeke is the most absolutely wonderful dog! We have
been having a lot of allergy problems with him though, and I have been
meaning to let you know about it. He loves all children and people.
He is spoiled rotten and has just been wonderful for us!!

Cynthia,
I am truly sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. As you can
see in the pictures, she is beautiful! She has lots of personality
and isn't afraid to speak her mind (she fits in well with the family).
Overall, she is very independent. In the evenings she lays in the
kitchen while we are doing other things.
Thanks for checking on us!

Hi Cynthia,
It's been forever since I have written and I
just wanted to give you an update on our wonderful Samantha. I saw
in someone's letter you posted that they have the most beautiful dog
ever, well I have to say I disagree, because I think Samantha is the
most beautiful dog EVER (I never even saw their dog, but I just can't
imagine a dog being prettier than Sam). I cannot even begin
to tell you what a joy she has been. She is now 2 1/2 years old
and is doing wonderful. I recently trained and ran a marathon in
Florida and she ran all of my shorter training runs with me. I
didn't want to tire her on runs over 6 miles, but she absolutely loved
it. She and Austin and his friends play soccer with her nearly
daily and she is an incredible soccer player. She reads the ball
and controls it as well as the kids!! She still sleeps in her
crate in Austin's room, but we now leave the door open and she stays in
until around 7am everyday. Yes, as you can probably see, she is
VERY spoiled, but that is ok. I truly cannot believe how smart she
is. It's nearly weird at some of the things she can pick up on.
For example, we have an invisible fence system and when we are playing
ball with her, sometimes her ball will get past her line. If I am
busy or doing something else in the yard and she can't get her ball, she
will knock over pot that has dirt in it cause she knows it gets my
attention. She has a really quirky personality and we laugh at
crazy things she does constantly. I will say she is also very
protective and everyone knows when they see her not to run upon her and
always say her name and let her smell them first. That is perfect
for us, maybe not so perfect for unwanted guest! She did some
agility a year ago, but she was a little timid at the time. I
think she would enjoy it much more now and we may try it again this
spring or summer. She did great and picked it up well. I
bought her a beaver stuffed toy and that dog show where I saw you and
Beauty and she carries it around with her every time she comes in.
She even has a special walk when she goes to get it. Anyway, I
could go on and on, but wanted to share a few stories.
I hope you and your family are doing well.
We are doing fine, and very excited about the spring and summer.

HI CYNTHIA......HERE ARE 3 PICTURES OF
THE PRETTIEST DOG EVER. HE IS A JOY (AND A NUISANCE SOMETIME ).BUT
HE IS GREAT.
HE LOVES TO GO FOR A RIDE IN THE CAR AND
SITS IN THE SEAT AND LOOKS OUT THE WINDOW LIKE A LITTLE KID.
I BOUGHT HIM A BED AND THE FIRST THING HE
DID WAS TO GRAB THE LABEL AND SWING IT AROUND HIS HEAD......SO THAT WENT
BACK TO THE STORE. HE HAS A LEATHER CLUB CHAIR THAT HE USES SO HE
IS CONTENT.
HE GOES DOWN TO THE CORRAL TO HELP FEED
THE HORSES. HE IS VERY INTIMIDATING.....AS LONG AS HE IS ON THE
SAFE SIDE OF THE FENCE. IF THE HORSES MOVE TOWARD HIM, HE
RUNS.LIKE CRAZY.
WE LOVE HIM A LOT.....JO

Hi Cynthia,
I have wonderful news. Troy
received qualifying scores on Sat. with an 88 & Sun. 95 for
Rally novice A and are you ready for this----first place both days too!
On Sat. he sniffed the floor pretty much the whole way but all the other
dogs did the same. Today he was amazing. In January there is another trial
so maybe we will get our 3rd leg.
I have some wonderful people
helping me train, Sharon Jolly, Melissa Thomas, Liz Widmer and
Dana Wray. Dana has been awesome!
Have a Happy Holiday and I'll keep
you posted.

Terra X Dryker son 2007
Hello Cynthia,
It's been a while since I've updated you on Roman, born January 7,
2007, from the Dryker and Terra litter. Roman will be
3 soon and has settled into his adult personality nicely. He's a
large boy, at 100#, and looks just like his dad. He also looks
exactly like a larger version of his puppy pic you had posted on your
site when I first fell in love with him.
He's 100% what a well-bred GSD should be. He's loving and
affectionate to family, yet aloof to strangers in public. At
home he's fiercely loyal. No one dare come into his space
unwelcome. At the dog park he's the most well-behaved out of all
the other dogs. He's rarely challenged and therefore extremely
confident.
Anyway, I just wanted you to know how very much I love him.
I'll definitely buy another dog from you sometime in the future.
Keep directing prospective new puppy owners to my email for personal
referrals. If anyone lives in the Dallas area I'd also be happy
to show them Roman in person.
Take good care,
Julie Schott

Hi Cynthia!
I hope all is well with you. It is hard to believe that is has
already been two years! Zephyr is doing
beautifully. She continues to work in contract drug
detection, but her first love is being involved in Animal Assisted
Therapy at the Oklahoma City DHS Children's Shelter and
at several schools. This is so much more than
just being a friendly dog. She works through specific
protocols under the direction of a licensed therapist that help
children with disabilities learn basic social skills,
like boundary control, impulsive-compulsive
behaviors, dealing with abandonment, etc. She excels at this
work. She is very tuned in to what a child needs, but is intelligent
enough to make the exercises challenging for the
children. It is so wonderful to watch the
progress these children make through this training. Because
of the sensitive nature of her work, we are not allowed to photograph
the children while in therapy. But attached is a photo of a community
event we attended in July. The therapy organization we belong to
called H.A.L.O., Human Animal Link of Oklahoma. A truly
great organization I highly recommend. I will
send their website along with the photos later. The other
picture is just of the two of us in our back yard.
Cynthia, this dog is everything I had hoped she would be and so much
more. She is absolutely beautiful, very
protective, but smart about how she does it,
and so gentle with children. Unlike my previous shepherd that I dearly
loved, Zephyr's health has been excellent. You do
fantastic work! Don't stop!
I will send some additional photos later.

Cynthia,
I
have attached a picture of Duke from last night. He finally passed
the novice obedience class. The first time he tested we had some
problems with his sit stay and down stay. He was distracted by
another dog and they tested on a stormy night. We didn’t mind
taking the class over since the most important thing to us is getting him
out and around different people and other dogs. He is still a little
shy around new people but getting better all the time. Duke will
begin his new classes next week. I wondered if you still have any
females available from your current litter. We may also be
interested in Daisy’s next litter. At some point we would like to
have another female. We’re just not sure of the timing.
Thank
you very much,
Gay |

I have just got to tell you what Saphira did yesterday. We had
just come home from Randy's Mom's house. I walked into the
kitchen, stopped and put my purse on the kitchen table. Saphira
was standing right next to me and all of a sudden she jumped on top of
the table! All four feet at once from a standing position....next
thing I know she is looking at me right in the face! Needless to
say it was a kodak moment. None of my others has ever done
anything like that! I guess I need to put her in agility :)
It still makes me laugh!

Hi Cynthia,
Hope you are doing well. All is
good here in El Paso. Troy is such a wonderful dog! We are going to

agility the best. When the weather starts to cool down we will begin
tracking with Sharon. I'm pretty excited about that.

Hi Cynthia!
It's been awhile since I gave you an update on Zephyr. She
has worked her way into an impressive career as an independent
narcotics dog with several finds to her credit. It is a very
good feeling to facilitate a parent's peace of mind and
allow a good parent to intervene when necessary. She completed
her advanced off-lead training through Angel Soriano's K9
University here in OKC. We certified Zephyr as a therapy dog
about six months ago. Since then she has been involved in
Animal Assisted Therapy at the Oklahoma Department of Human
Services juvenile shelter. Here, she works through specific,
targeted exercises with some kids who have seen all the bad
the world has to offer. Zephyr shows them another way to live,
through honesty, trust, discipline and affection. She
absolutely comes alive around these children and seems to
instinctively know what they need. The program uses
specific training protocols to teach kids appropriate
behaviors in specific situations. Many kids will tune out a
human teacher, but a dog becomes the human/animal link to get
a message across.
Just for fun, Zephyr and I marched in Edmond's big 4th of
July parade with K9U. We had a great time and Zephyr was
really in her element greating all the folks along the route.
Zephyr is beautiful. If you looked at the photo of
her daddy, you would not be able to tell them apart. She
has maintained her rich, dark coloring. And her
personality is amazing. Just because she is a therapy dog,
does not mean she lacks protective instincts. She is also an
intimidating watch dog with very appropriate reactions. You
did an outstanding job with this breeding!!!
I noticed that you have Beauty bred again. Any word yet of
whether she is pregnant? I have several people here who have
expressed an interest in a puppy with Zephyr's genetic
background.
Best wishes for a happy summer!

weights 51.7lbs. He likes water----A LOT! Tonight I'm going to the RGODC

Hi Cynthia!
I hope everything is going well for
you. I see from your website that you have raised a couple more litters.
You sure do stay busy! But you also raise FABULOUS shepherds, so don't
stop!!!!! Everyone my girl meets is very impressed with her. And I never
fail to tell them where she came from!
Now I get to brag a little!!!!
Zephyr passed her Therapy Dog test with flying colors two weeks ago and
will now expand her career further into community service. This is in
addition to her narcotics detection career which we both enjoy very much.
She has very good sense on how to react in various situations. I never
fail to be impressed with how she can change "modes" as soon as
I shake her working collar. She knows it's time to look for drugs when she
sees or hears that collar and it's all business! When she meets new people
she is very polite and friendly and usually willing to bestow wet kisses
if allowed. She actually laid a big wet one on the Therapy Dog Evaluator!
My next plan is to test her by training her in personal protection. I feel
it will be the ultimate test of the versatility of a GSD if she can excel
at both Therapy Dog work and protection work at under two years of age. It
seems there are not many GSDs in therapy work. I feel Zephyr may become a
very good advocate for her breed. Mostly, I am just enjoying her
tremendously. She is absolutely beautiful. She looks exactly like Cody,
with very dark, rich coloring and beautiful movement. And she has an
engaging personality. In short, she is everything I had hoped for and
more!
Hope you have a great spring!
